Error 404 is an intermedia stage piece exploring the relationship between humans and technology through an intergenerational lens.

THE WHY:

As a choreographic and screendance artist, I see the world through movement. The past four years for me has been a deep dive into the world of SCREENDANCE and my 2 dimensional choreographic practice. I love this world and I love the variables within this world in which I can explore that which I cannot for live work. On the contrary, I love LIVE WORK. The ephemerality of an undocumented stage piece. The breath, the sweat, the tangible energy… There is something so invigorating about watching artists work IN THE MOMENT to experience the body in action.

This is one reason I have decided to explore the cross-section of the two- a hybrid practice of making for the stage and the screen. How can they work in tandem to create something that only exists as a duality.

THE WHAT:

In thinking about what kind of themes I wanted to draw upon for this work, and a firm lover of the ‘awareness of self, awareness of others, awareness of community’ model, I started with my own current state of being- and it was…. not good. I was depressed. I was in a LOW basin of life questioning my worth, my goodness, my reasoning, and my validity in the thing I loved and had dedicated 28 years of my life to. I had found myself out of touch with the most honest parts of myself and avoiding confronting the hard truths by leaning into the thing that could make me care not one iota about my own worries- SOCIAL MEDIA. Doomscrolling (for hours upon hours), reaching for my phone the moment the hard feelings came up, and staring at screens doing
